    About this product

White Screen is a free web-based tool that fills your display with a pure white color for lighting, backlighting, tracing, and display testing. It offers adjustable brightness and color temperature, a keep-awake mode, and the ability to download white images in various formats and sizes up to 8K. No sign-up or installation is required, and nothing is stored on your device.

    What is White Screen?

White Screen is a browser-based utility that turns your screen into a flat, even white surface. It takes no input other than your display and produces a full-screen white color, which can be used as a fill light for video calls, a light table for tracing, or a tool for spotting dead pixels and dust. The tool runs entirely in your browser and is provided by screenwhite.app.

    Key Features

    • Full-screen white display — Press the Full screen button or the F key to fill your entire display with pure white, hiding all other page elements.
    • Brightness and color temperature controls — Adjust brightness from 0 to 100% and color temperature from warm to cool (default 6500K) to suit your environment.
    • Keep awake mode — Toggle a wake lock to prevent your screen from going to sleep while the white screen is active.
    • Timer function — Set an automatic timer to turn off the white screen after 1, 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes, or 1 hour.
    • Download white images — Generate and download white images in PNG, JPG, or WEBP formats, from a single pixel up to 8K resolution (7680×4320).
    • Direct image links — Access pre-generated white images at common resolutions like 1920×1080, 3840×2160, and 1×1 pixel via direct URLs.
    • No sign-up or watermark — The tool is completely free, requires no account, and adds no watermark to downloaded images.

    Who is it for?

    • Video call participants — Use the white screen as a fill light to soften shadows on your face during video conferences.
    • Artists and designers — Lay paper over the screen to trace images or use it as a backlight for viewing slides or negatives.
    • Display technicians — Check for dead pixels, dust, or other screen defects by displaying a uniform white field.
    • Anyone needing a white background — Download a white image for use in presentations, web design, or other projects.

What can you do with White Screen?

    • Fill light for video calls: Position your screen beside your face and raise brightness to reduce shadows and improve lighting.
    • Light table for tracing: Place paper on a tablet or laptop screen and trace lines that show through clearly.
    • Spotting specks and dead pixels: Use the white field to reveal foreign material or permanently dark pixels that are hard to see against normal content.

    How does White Screen work?

Open the page and press Full screen or the F key. The color is painted before any script runs, so there is no flash of white before the page settles. On mobile, add the page to your home screen to open directly into the white screen without browser interface. The keep-awake feature uses the Screen Wake Lock API, which works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and most mobile browsers.

    FAQ

Is White Screen safe to use?

Yes. The page only changes the color of a browser tab and installs nothing. It requires no account and stores nothing about you. The only browser permission it requests is a wake lock, and only when you enable Keep awake. Downloads are generated on request and never stored, and there is no upload path.

Does White Screen stop the display from going to sleep?

Only if you switch Keep awake on. A web page cannot keep a display lit unless it explicitly asks for a wake lock. The wake lock is released when you leave the page or when the tab is hidden.

Is looking at a white screen bad for your eyes?

Not inherently, but a bright screen close to your face for a long time can cause eye strain. Lower the brightness to around 60%, warm
